Jaimie is a Director of OPEN and leads our Manchester studio. An experienced and innovative designer, his skills cover everything from city-wide spatial and regeneration strategies through to site-specific design. He regularly leads multi-disciplinary design teams working with clients and collaborators to shape and deliver major developments.

Jaimie studied engineering and architecture at the University of Manchester, and then specialised in urban design, completing an MA at the University of Westminster.

He was previously a Director of urban design at global design practices EDAW and BDP and most recently the national Head of Design at Turley. His experience is drawn from projects at all scales and across the UK, as well as projects in the far east, middle east and Russia.

A number of his significant masterplans have gone on to be implemented. In the residential sector this ranges from new settlements such as Coed D’Arcy, a 4,000 home new settlement for BP and the Prince’s Foundation through to a 400 home urban infill at Charlestown, in Salford, for Keepmoat. Other sector examples include the upgrade and expansion of Chester Zoo and the Etihad Campus, Manchester City’s training complex, and the associated community facilities.

He also has a strong track record for design guidance and assessment; from national documents for CABE through to local development briefs and design guides. A recognised practitioner with the Urban Design Group and an Academician at the Academy of Urbanism he is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Highways & Transportation. He sits on the PlacesMatter! design review panel for North West England.
